An artist of Mariusz Kozik’s stature and fame, an artist so valued by all who cherish the name “Polak” and the word “Fatherland,” does not require a review on our store’s website. Nevertheless, out of an inner need, we would like to share with you our reflection on a fragment of the artist’s work devoted to the hussars, the legend of the Polish army.
Through his talent and creative commitment, the painter allows us to relive distant moments, shrouded in history, of the beautiful Polish tradition and knightly glory. Looking at the artist’s paintings depicting the charges of the Polish hussars, one has the overwhelming impression that their creator witnessed those events and, like a war correspondent, captured the battle scenes with his camera. Thanks to him, we see the terror of the hussar attack and what would follow. No one before him had created such images, and therefore no one before us, apart from those who participated in those battles, had witnessed such scenes, this frozen dynamic, this tension, and this fighting spirit. Our heroic hussars waited four centuries for this artistic resurrection, and through these brilliant images, we become co-participants in their glory.
